Atol Protector
The Atol Aurora is a versatile and robust amphibious aircraft with certified production facilities and is soon to be licensed to fly under LSA regulations.
Atol Protector is an Atol Aurora tuned for rough use by the military, Coast Guard and authorities. Capable of carrying cameras, FLIR and other surveillance equipment in three host points – two under wings and one in the nose – it can fly either with or without a pilot for 8-hour long flights ranging up to 800 km. With the optional additional fuel tanks and without a pilot, it can stay airborne for 20 hours.
As an amphibian, Atol Protector can use paved or unpaved runways, lakes, seas, rivers, snow or ice for the take-off and landing. It can be pre-positioned on lakes near the operational area and called to action if and when needed.
Costing only about 300,000 euros (without payloads or equipment for autonomous/remote-controlled flying, provided by our partners), it has unparalleled flexibility for low-cost surveillance and SAR missions. When flying a helicopter costs around 5000 euros per hour, Atol Protector goes down to 200 euros per hour, with typical maintenance and insurance included.
